I grew up in the Stockholm suburb of Bredäng with my mother. It will come as no surprise that I could speak long before I could walk. Ever since I was little, I dreamt of sitting at an English mahogany desk with a green reading lamp and writing a whole bunch of clever things. I did not know what I would write about, but I was going to be smart in any case.
The road there was fraught both with setbacks and successes. I was determined to try out everything I wanted to do, even though I perhaps did not quite dare. Moreover, my inner mantra was: Say yes to everything. So even thought my giddiness was apparent when I was asked to give lecture along with inter alios Tony Blair and Göran Persson, there was only one answer to give: Yes.
My favourite quotation for the time being is: “Some day, I’m going to put my body where my mind is.” – Martin Luther King on dreams.
